Choose the sunrise hike if you want to stand on the 1,717 m summit itself, it's about 1.5–2 hours up and beginner-friendly. Choose the 4WD jeep tour if you'd rather not climb, it drives you to a sunrise viewpoint and on to the black lava and black sand fields. Both leave before dawn, and both include breakfast and hotel pickup in the Kintamani area.

The sunrise trek is IDR 550,000 per person. The jeep tour is IDR 550,000 per person, or IDR 750,000 for a private jeep taking up to 3 people. Your guide or driver, the entrance ticket, breakfast, water, photo documentation and Kintamani-area hotel pickup are already inside that price.

The trek is picked up around 03:00 and the jeep tour around 03:30, so you reach the viewpoint before first light. Pickup and drop-off inside the Kintamani area is included. It's a steady 1.5–2 hour climb on a well-trodden trail, with steep sections of loose volcanic gravel but no technical climbing. Reasonably fit first-timers manage it comfortably at the guided pace. Wear closed shoes with grip and bring a light jacket, the summit sits around 10°C before dawn.

Bali's dry season, roughly April to October, gives the clearest skies. That said, early mornings are often clear even in the wet season, which is exactly why tours start pre-dawn. We watch the forecast and will tell you honestly on WhatsApp if a morning looks poor, so you can pick the best one of your trip.
