Disclaimer

Last updated: 7 June 2026

This disclaimer explains the basis on which we provide information through this website and the nature of the adventure activities we offer. Please read it carefully before booking or joining a tour. By using this website or taking part in any of our tours, you accept this disclaimer. It should be read together with our Terms of Service and our Privacy Policy.

1. Information on this website

The information, prices, itineraries, schedules, descriptions and photographs on this website are provided in good faith and for general guidance only. They are illustrative. For example, sunrise times, weather, trail conditions and what you actually see on the day vary, and photographs may not represent every tour.

We may update or change any content at any time without notice. While we try to keep this website accurate and current, we do not warrant that it is complete, accurate, reliable or error-free, and you should not rely on it as your only source of information. Please confirm current details with us directly before you travel or book.

2. Adventure activity and assumption of risk

Mount Batur (approximately 1,717 m) is an active volcano. Our sunrise hikes begin pre-dawn and you will walk in the dark, by torchlight, on steep and uneven volcanic terrain, at altitude and in weather that can change quickly, including cold, wind, rain, fog and loose or slippery ground.

Outdoor adventure activities of this kind carry inherent risks that cannot be fully eliminated, even with experienced guides and reasonable care. These risks include, but are not limited to:

  • Slips, trips and falls on dark, steep or uneven ground
  • Cuts, sprains, fractures and other physical injury
  • Effects of altitude, cold, heat, exhaustion or dehydration
  • Falling rocks, loose volcanic material and other natural hazards
  • Sudden changes in weather or visibility
  • Risks inherent to being on or near an active volcano

You take part in our tours voluntarily and at your own risk, in the knowledge of the nature of these activities and the conditions described above.

3. Your responsibility and fitness

Our hikes require a reasonable level of health and fitness. It is your responsibility to honestly assess whether you are fit to take part, and to disclose to us any relevant medical condition, injury, allergy, pregnancy or limitation before the tour so we can advise you. To take part safely, you should:

  • Assess your own health and fitness honestly before booking
  • Tell us in advance about any relevant medical condition or limitation
  • Wear suitable warm clothing and sturdy, closed hiking footwear
  • Bring water, any personal medication and a working torch or headlamp
  • Follow your guide's instructions and safety briefings at all times

Our tours are not suitable for everyone, and may not be appropriate during certain medical conditions or pregnancy, or for very young children. If you are unsure whether a tour is right for you, please check with us and with your doctor before you book.

4. Not professional advice

Nothing on this website, and nothing said by our guides or staff, is intended as medical, health, fitness or safety advice. It is general information only. For advice about your own health or fitness to undertake hiking or adventure activity, please consult a qualified medical professional.

5. Weather, volcanic activity and conditions

Our routes, summit access and the running of every tour depend on weather, ground conditions, volcanic activity and the decisions of the local authorities who manage the mountain. For your safety, a tour may be modified, shortened, delayed or cancelled, sometimes at short notice or even after departure.

Where this happens, the arrangements for rescheduling and any refund are set out in our Terms of Service. Decisions made on safety grounds are final.

6. Travel insurance

We strongly recommend that you arrange personal travel and medical insurance before your trip, and that your policy specifically covers hiking, trekking and adventure activities at altitude, as well as emergency medical treatment and evacuation. We do not provide insurance for participants.

7. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by the laws of the Republic of Indonesia, we are not liable for any injury, death, loss, damage or expense arising from your voluntary participation in our tours or from your reliance on any information on this website. Nothing in this disclaimer excludes or limits our liability where it is caused by our own proven negligence, or where liability cannot lawfully be excluded or limited. This section should be read together with the liability provisions in our Terms of Service.

8. External links

This website may contain links to third-party websites or services that we do not own or control. We provide these links for convenience only. We are not responsible for the content, accuracy, policies or practices of any third-party site, and a link does not imply our endorsement.

9. Changes to this disclaimer

We may update this disclaimer from time to time to reflect changes to our tours, our practices or the law. The current version is the one published on this page, with the date shown at the top. Please review it again before each booking.
